What is Google Search?
Google Search is a search engine provided by Google that has a market share of over 92%. Google Search, also known as Google Web Search or simply Google, is a web search engine founded in 1997 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin while Ph.D. students at Stanford University. Google Search is the most widely used search engine in the world. It is also home to Google News, Google Maps, and Google Images—and has many other free services. In addition to its flagship search service, Google provides tools for website optimization, online advertising, cloud computing, event planning and management (Google Calendar), social networking (Google+), e-mail services (Gmail / Inbox), video sharing (YouTube), note taking (Google Keep), and photo organizing and editing (Google Photos). It handles more than 3.5 billion searches per day, and it is the most-visited website in the world. The order of search results returned by Google is based, in part, on a priority rank system called “PageRank.” Google Search is a web search engine provided by Google, the most-used and most-visited website globally. There are more than 240 languages in which Google delivers search results. The domain google.com attracted at least 146 million visitors annually by 2008, according to a 2008 study. The search engine is a coreGoogle product that is integrated into the company’s various products and services. Google Search provides the user with an Augmented Reality Sandbox experience, where the user can place virtual creatures on top of real-world landmarks.
To provide this experience, Google Search uses Computer Vision that merges computer-generated data with pictures of the real world taken by a smartphone. Google Search is a service offered by Google that allows users to search the Web and watch videos. Users can find the information they’re looking for by entering words or phrases in the search box available from any Google page. Once users have found what they’re looking for, they can click on one of the results to be taken to a web page where the content resides. Google Search formerly provided an “advanced search” feature that let the user specify points on the compass (N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, or NW) on a map; each location represented a group of content pages of results. In July 2007, the advanced search was removed without notice, and users were redirected to the “ten blue links” in a drop-down menu above the search box. Until May 2011, a hidden link in the navigation bar returned Google Search’s old advanced search interface if clicked; it was visible only by hovering over it with the mouse. With the release of “Hummingbird” in 2013, Google significantly improved its search algorithm. The name “Hummingbird” comes from the hummingbird’s speed and precision. The change was revealed on September 26, 2013, after it had already been in use for a month. “Hummingbird” puts a higher emphasis on natural language searches, taking context and meaning into account over specific keywords. It also digs deeper into the material on particular website pages, giving it a better chance of directing users to the most relevant page rather than just the homepage. As a result of the upgrade, web developers and writers were encouraged to optimize their sites with natural writing rather than forced keywords and make effective use of technical web development for on-site navigation.
