What is Gusto?

Gusto is a cutting-edge online human resources platform that enables any small business owner to manage all aspects of human resources. Gusto provides HR tools and services to help with employee onboarding, payroll, health benefits administration, and engaging employees and teams, all from a single, easy-to-use platform used by over 100,000 modern employers. No matter how difficult the situation is, any business owner will feel like a pro. Gusto provides payroll and benefits management services to any small business. When it comes to buying health insurance for the first time, integrating existing plans with payroll, or needing assistance with add-ons like 401(k), life insurance, or commuter benefits, Gusto offers expert advice from HR professionals. Gusto Payroll Services will streamline the payroll process and simplify running payroll by providing full-service support for automatic payroll processing, tax filing, and payroll compliance using integrated payroll software. Pay stubs and other tax documents are accessible to both employees and employers. Gusto assists employers of all sizes in finding health insurance and other employee benefits from the start. You can provide your team with the help they want and need to stay happy, healthy, and engaged with online enrollment and a couple of experts on call to assist them.

Gusto comes with a basic set of tools to aid in hiring and onboarding new employees. On the other hand, Gusto is not a software solution for recruiting or talent management. You can’t, for example, post and manage job listings automatically. Gusto also lacks a dedicated applicant management system. You can quickly make and send offer letters with Gusto. Email templates with merge fields can be designed to fill in crucial information automatically. When a candidate receives your offer, you can add them to Gusto and track their onboarding progress in the Hiring Module. You can make customized onboarding checklists with tasks for your new hires to complete. Gusto’s most vital feature is payroll. It aids in the administration of employee payroll and the payment of contractors. You can keep track of your employees’ hours and wages in the Run Payroll module. Bonuses, gross pay, cash tips, commissions,  overtime hours, and reimbursements can be tracked. Gusto handles benefit deductions, calculates payroll time off, and automatically deposits payments into employee bank accounts. Gusto also takes care of filing payroll taxes for you. With Gusto’s AutoPilot feature, you can also automate employee payroll. This is a magnificent way to ensure that employees and taxes are paid on time for each pay period. Contractors will not be able to use this feature. Gusto has time-tracking features that are especially useful for businesses with hourly workers. Your employees can punch in and out by using the time clock included in Gusto. Gusto also comes with a time-off tracker. In the Time Tracking module, managers can keep track of recorded hours and approve time-off requests. Whether it’s for jury duty bereavement or floating holidays, you can create multiple paid-time-off (PTO) policies to meet the needs of your employees. You can control how much time employees can take off and define PTO accrual methods with Gusto. Gusto also allows you to keep track of overtime hours. Overtime rules can be set up based on the state where your employees work. You can also look up state-by-state overtime laws in Gusto’s Help Center to make sure you comply.

Gusto includes tools that assist businesses in adhering to state and federal regulations. Gusto keeps track of essential employee documents like I-9s and W-2s and electronic signatures. Your compliance dashboard includes a checklist that outlines the steps your company must take to remain fully compliant with state and federal laws. This is a valuable tool for visualizing critical legal steps that your business must take. Furthermore, if you choose Gusto’s most expensive plan, your company will access a certified HR representative. You can also be notified when state and federal laws change. Gusto enables small businesses to provide their employees with affordable health care and financial benefits. It’s simple to set up help for your employees. Gusto, on the other hand, opposes benefits in some states. You can oversee your team’s advantages and track deduction amounts and employee and employer contributions in the Benefits Dashboard. Gusto has over 3,500 health insurance plans and 100 carriers to choose from, as well as several financial benefits. There are several limitations to Gusto’s help that you should consider before making your purchase, in addition to the benefits not listed in the table above. Gusto’s performance management is limited. Because you can only track employee insights and happiness, this is the case. This means Gusto will be useless for your company if you want to set goals or follow team performance. Gusto’s analytics and reporting give your company a bird’s-eye view of its operations. This is because Gusto includes a powerful custom report builder and a large number of pre-built reports. Gusto’s customer service is friendly, but they don’t offer live chat. They can be obtained by phone or email. Monday through Friday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. EST are the phone hours. It usually takes a few business days for an email to be responded to. Gusto includes several valuable add-on resources. Various business-based calculators, checklists, a help center, and a directory for finding accountants are among the tools available. These are all very actionable resources that are directly related to your company’s growth.
