What is JetBrains?

JetBrains, also known as IntelliJ IDEA, is an intelligent, context-aware IDE for developing Java and other JVM languages like Kotlin, Scala, and Groovy. IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate’s excellent integrated tools, support for JavaScript, and advanced support for popular frameworks like Spring, Spring Boot, Jakarta EE, Micronaut, Quarks, and Helidon can help you develop full-stack web applications. You can also use JetBrains’ free plugins to extend IntelliJ IDEA. It allows you to work with other programming languages like Go, Python, SQL, Ruby, and PHP. Every aspect of IntelliJ IDEA is designed to provide you with a seamless experience right out of the box. It gives you access to the features and integrated tools you need for your job and various customization options.

Even if it’s your first time using an IDE, getting started with your first project shouldn’t take long. You can specify the project type, Java version, and supported build tools (such as Maven and Gradle) in the New Project wizard. IntelliJ IDEA has keyboard shortcuts for almost everything from viewing recent files to running and debugging your project. Double Shift is a universally helpful shortcut (Search Everywhere). It enables you to locate almost any item within or outside the project. Files, actions, classes, and symbols can all be searched, as well as settings, UI elements, and even Git history. As a developer, you may spend long days coding in front of a screen, so making the UI easy on the eyes is critical. We have several options available to help you create a pleasant working environment. You can use standard color themes, such as IntelliJ Light or Darcula, or you can set IntelliJ IDEA to use your OS’s theme. JetBrains is dedicated to making our products as user-friendly as possible. You can enable various accessibility features in IntelliJ IDEA to meet your needs. Screen readers, for example, are compatible with IntelliJ IDEA. You can also change the colors of several UI elements, resize tool windows and the size of the editor’s text, and add a contrast color to scrollbars.

Despite being designed primarily for Java development, IntelliJ IDEA understands and provides intelligent coding assistance for various other programming languages, including Groovy, Kotlin, Scala, JavaScript, TypeScript, and SQL. The IDE can create a virtual map of your project by indexing the source code at the start. It can identify errors on the fly, suggest code completion variants with correct context awareness, perform refactoring, and more using the information from the virtual map. IntelliJ IDEA has several features that simplify navigation and searching, allowing you to stay focused on your code and work faster. IntelliJ IDEA includes a robust set of tools for configuring run and build parameters, debugging code, and applying and developing JUnit tests directly in the IDE. IntelliJ IDEA includes mission-critical built-in tools and integrations that allow you to work in a familiar environment without having to switch between applications. Out of the box, IntelliJ IDEA supports the most popular version control systems such as Git, Subversion, Mercurial, and Perforce. You can clone a project by comparing two revisions, VCS, managing branches, committing and pushing changes, merging conflicts, reviewing history, and more from the welcome screen. IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate gives you first-class support for the most popular frameworks and technologies for building modern applications and microservices. Spring and Spring Boot, Jakarta EE, JPA, Reactor, and other frameworks are all supported by your IDE. Do you need to work on UIs for your web application or do Node.js development? IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate is here to help! WebStorm, our IDE for JavaScript and related technologies, is fully integrated. All of these features are either built-in or available as free plugins. IntelliJ IDEA Ultimate combines the most popular container orchestration systems, Kubernetes and Docker, to keep up with modern software development. Third-party plugins are also available for deploying code to AWS, Google Cloud, and Azure.
