How To Forward Yahoo Mail To Gmail?

If you want to forward the mail you have been receiving on your Yahoo account to Gmail, you can set it up to be automatic. Once you do that you can send a copy of incoming messages to Gmail or any other type of email service. This option can come in handy if you are trying to consolidate all your email to a single account, or if you decide to delegate your messages to another person.

When you choose to forward email automatically a new message is created by Yahoo with a copy of the original message. Besides the email body, the email also includes details of the original sender, details of the recipient mail, the exact time when the message was sent, and much more.

Forward Your Yahoo Mail To Gmail

First, open your Yahoo Mail in a browser window, and at the top right of the page, under the Home icon, click the Gear icon.

If your browser window is wide enough the gear will be labeled “Settings”.

Select “More Settings” and in the pane on the left click “Mailboxes”

Under the “Mailbox list” select the Yahoo email account that you want to forward.

In the Forwarding section enter the email address and then click “ Verify”

Finally, go to the account you are forwarding your mail. Here, you should see a new email from Yahoo asking you to confirm that you want to forward your email there. This prevents anyone from accidentally or maliciously forwarding an email to the account that doesn’t want the message. After you confirm that you want to forward the email, your Yahoo Mail will automatically be forwarded to Gmail.

If you decide to cancel email forwarding you can do that by returning to this same Yahoo mail menu and click “Remove”.

Friendly Reminder

It’s not possible to forward only certain emails from Yahoo because the filters on Yahoo allow you only to move the mail to different folders. You can either forward all your new Yahoo e-mail to another address and filter them out on the receiving side, which we don’t recommend.

Keep in mind that all the emails still go to your Yahoo account first and then they are redirected to your Gmail. So, if you delete your Yahoo account you will never be able to receive any new emails sent to the Yahoo address.
